Class Ε (Upper-Intermediate)

At this level, (from the first class of Junior High school) students are in the final stretch of the preparation for the Lower certificate. Students complete their knowledge in grammar and enrich their vocabulary. The books that we select at this level include topics that correspond to teenagers’ interests as well as topics of social interest that enrich their knowledge and make teaching more pleasant and effective. Students attend courses for five hours weekly and they must come to our centre every two weeks to practise writing Past Papers of the certificate they are sitting for at his level. They attend two hours Coursebook with reading comprehension , one hour grammar, one hour speaking with an English speaking teacher and a two-hour preparation for the certificate they are going to sit. (Level B1) Great emphasis is placed on all the structures of the English language: reading, listening, writing, speaking. Listening comprehension of the language (listening skills), speaking practice (speaking skills) , writing practice (writing skills) reinforce the foundation for acquiring the certificate. The special multimedia programmes and the lending library of our centre help to the better preparation of the students.

Class Lower

Lower class (from the second class of Junior high school) is the last one for those who do not wish to continue to the highest level. Students attend courses for six hours weekly. One hour grammar in which the students’ knowledge is now established, one hour speaking practice with an English speaking teacher and four hours preparation in the certificate the students are going to sit for. Reading comprehension and listening comprehension, speaking practice, teaching writing , practice writing and listening exam of the certificates as well as preparation in the computer room on exam topics, are included in the studying programme. The students have to come to our centre extra hours weekly for speaking and writing practice in order to be as well prepared as possible before the day of the exams. Completing every test, the student moves on to the assessment stage and a meeting with the teacher in charge of the class follows with whom they discuss the mistakes and the possibility of the student improving himself and thus succeeding in the exams.

Certificates always comprise a motivation for students (external motivation) but the objective of our centre is not to be an end in itself. We definitely want the love for the language (internal motivation) to be the most important motivation of children and the ability to speak fluently and understand the English language as well as any other foreign language.

General Information

Our Centre is open all year round except for the last fifteen days of August. The winter period begins in September and is completed in May and the summer period begins in June and is completed on 15^th of August. For Junior classes, there is an additional special summer programme in which the classes can be completed from June to July so that our young students can have August free.

It is worth pointing out that all the teachers of our centre are available both for parents and students at a specified time a week throughout the school year. The “Teacher’s hour” as we call it, the students can come to our centre for any queries they might have, for extra help they may need, to cover the syllabus in case they were absent or even for any discussion they want to have with their teacher over anything that concerns them. Parents can also come to our centre to ask about their children’s progress or to discuss any matter that concerns their children’s attitude.
