Elementary is the second Palso exam that students at basic level sit for. It is A1 level and the exams include 3 sections.

The exam lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes and includes the following sections:

The exam lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes and includes three sections Listening, Reading and Usage and Writing.

1)Listening: In the first exercise there are 6 pictures , students must put them in the order they listen to them, filling 10 gaps. The second exercise is composed of ten multiple choice questions in which students must choose the correct answer. The whole section lasts 20 minutes and is assessed with 25 points.

2)Reading and Usage: This section is composed of 6 exercises, 30 questions with a duration of 40’. The first exercise is a text for which there are 5 multiple choice questions and 5 statements that the candidate must match with pictures he will select. The next five questions are gap filling, that is the candidate must fill in the gaps after he chooses the words that are given. The third exercise is composed of 5 multiple choice questions. Questions 21-25 follow, in which the candidate must choose a picture and match it with a statement , that is with a sentence. The last exercise is composed of a dialogue that the candidates must complete with the sentences that are given so as to make sense. The whole section is scored with 50 points.

3) Writing: The last part of the exam is a friendly letter 60-80 words which the candidate must write in 30 minutes. The score for writing is 25 points.
