A1 Movers is the second of three Cambridge English Young Learners that are specially designed for young learners.It is a great way to help your children develop their language skills and delve into English more.
The tests assess the child’s skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Listening
A1 Movers listening is composed of 5 parts. Each part starts with one or two examples.Children listen to each recording twice.

Part 1
What does Part 1 include? |
A big picture that shows people doing several things. On and under the picture there are some names. Children must listen carefully to a dialogue between an adult and a child and draw a line from every name to the right person in the big picture. |

Part 2
What does Part 2 include? |
A short discussion between two people There is a form or a page from a notebook with some missing words (gaps). Children must listen to the recording and write the word or the number that is missing in every gap. |

Part 3
What does Part 3 include? |
Two sets of pictures. On the left there are some pictures with people as well as their names, or places or items. On the right, there is a set of pictures with letters but without words. Children must listen to a conversation between two people and match each of the pictures on the right with one of the pictures on the left. |

Part 4
What does Part 4 include? |
Five short conversations. There is a question and three pictures for every conversation. Children must decide which picture shows the right answer to the questions and put a ✓in the space under the picture. |

Part 5
What does Part 5 include? |
A big picture. Children must listen carefully to a conversation between an adult and a child. The adult asks from the child to colour different items in the picture and write a simple word or draw an item. Children must follow the instructions. |

Reading and Writing
A1 Movers Reading and Writing is composed of 6 parts. Each part starts with one or two examples. For all the Reading and Writing parts, the children must write their answers with right spelling.

Part 1
What does Part 1 include? |
On the left there are eight pictures with objects and under every picture, the word in English is written.On the right there are five definitions (sentences that describe or explain five of the eight objects on the left). The children must choose which picture matches with every definition and copy the right word underneath. |

To read short definitions and match them with words. To write words. |

Part 2
What does Part 2 include? |
A short conversation between two people. The children must decide what the second speaker says every time (A,B,C). |

Part 3
What does Part 3 include? |
A text with missing words (gaps). Next to the text there are small pictures and words. The children must decide which word fits every gap and copy it. For the last question, they must choose from three possible titles the one they think more suitable for the text. |

What does Part 4 include? |
A text with missing words (gaps). Next to each gap there are three possible answers. The children must decide which answer is right and copy it in the gap. |

What does Part 5 include? |
A story in three parts. Every part of the story has a picture. After every part of the story, children must complete sentences about the story using one, two or three words. |

One picture. Children must complete sentences , answer questions and write full sentences about the picture. |

Speaking
A1 Movers Speaking is composed of four parts. Every student is alone with the examiner, but someone who speaks Greek (like his teacher) will introduce him to the examiner and he will explain to him what he has to do in Greek.

Part 1
What does Part 1 include? |
The examiner greets the child and asks him his name. Then, he shows him two similar pictures but with some differences. The examiner asks the child to describe four differences. |
What do children practise? |
To describe differences between pictures. To talk about colours, shapes, numbers, places. What do people/objects look like , what are they doing e.t.c. |
Part 2
What does Part 2 include? |
The examiner shows four pictures that tell a story and talks to the child about the first picture. He must continue the story and describe the rest of the three pictures. The title of the story and the names of the central characters are given. |
What do children practise? |
To understand the beginning of a story and be able to continue it. To describe pictures. |
Part 3
What does Part 3 include? |
The examiner shows the child four sets that are composed of four pictures. In every set of pictures a picture is different from the rest. The child must say which picture is different and explain why. |
What do children practise? |
To suggest a picture that is different and explain why. |
Part 4
What does Part 4 include? |
The examiner asks the child some questions about himself (for example, about school, weekends, his friends and hobbies ). |
What do children practise? |
To understand and answer personal questions. |
